Summary of Research

Xiaomian is interested in conducting research for a fundamental understanding of materials for sustainability and clean energy. Currently, she is investigating the scaling laws of reversible polymer networks near the gel-point using molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations. Revealing the exponents that govern the molecular behaviors and how they relate to the strength and flexibility of polymer networks can inform novel designs of recyclable thermosetting polymers. In graduate school, Xiaomian hopes to continue computational research on polymers. She will collaborate closely with experimentalists to develop theories guiding material designs for sustainability and clean energy technologies.
