Samantha K. Lawrence
Samantha Lawrence is the Materials Compatibility Team Leader in Sigma Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). She received a BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 2010 and a PhD in Materials Engineering from Purdue University in 2015, where her work was funded under a DOE NNSA Stewardship Science Graduate Fellowship. She held a post-doctoral appointment in the Hydrogen Effects on Materials Laboratory at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, Calif., studying the interactions of stainless steels and nickel alloys with high pressure gaseous hydrogen.
Samantha joined LANL as a scientist in 2016 where she has continued to focus on material behavior in harsh environments and maintains a multidisciplinary research program applying advanced manufacturing and characterization tools to various metals and alloys, ranging from stainless steels to uranium, for programmatic needs in defense and energy.
