Managing Moments That Matter
Staff, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
The Managing Moments that Matter workshop is designed to introduce a model describing behaviors that create a constructive culture. We discuss the importance of modeling such behaviors consistently and the impact this has on culture. The objective is to create a critical mass aimed at consistently demonstrating the cultural behaviors that will improve communication and the effectiveness of an organization. We will review the qualities of a high functioning culture so that we fully understand what behaviors we’re trying to grow and or change and why we’re trying to change them. Then, we will drill down on some examples of moments when the problematic behaviors are apparent using real-world situations. Please feel free to bring examples of workplace situations that you felt exhibited problematic behaviors (i.e. overly aggressive or too passive). Participants will learn a model for action and how to recognize and respond, in the moment, when they witness or hear of situations, events, or critical incidents affecting the workplace that require attention. Together we will develop and practice responses that would constructively reset those behaviors.
